Translation
Mula prakriti (primordial nature), the root cause, is not the product or effect of any other cause. The next seven [elements], Intellect etc. (Ego & the five subtle objects), each constitutes both cause and effect. The [subsequent] sixteen [elements] are solely effects, while the soul (purush) is neither cause nor effect.
